(July 2018) The AEDC Small Business Lending Center is sponsoring two important workshops within the North Coast SBDC's first ever summer incubator for young entrepreneurs. The "Raise Capital!" sessions take the cohort through a fast, intense briefing on how to pitch to investors, how to run a crowfunding campaign, and how and when to apply for a business loan. A week later, three sub-groups will do a practice run for each approach to raising capital and receive practical advice and critique from the experts.
Susan Seaman, Program Director, and her colleague James Schaeffer, Loan Officer, are co-teaching the "Business Loan" portion of these workshops. Susan reflected, "For nearly 40 years, AEDC has been supporting Humboldt County small business. Historically, many of the businesses that we think of as leaders in the industry have been built by young professionals who want to create a place for themselves to stay and be successful in Humboldt. We are happy to encourage new generations to find that same success...And to help prepare them to be the industry leaders of the future."
