The U.S. Bank Foundation doubled its funding to the North Coast Small Business Center this year.
For a third consecutive year, the U.S. Bank Foundation awarded a grant to the SBDC through its Workforce Education & Economic Prosperity program. The funds help pay for experts who spend more than 2,000 hours a year coaching and teaching more than 400 local business owners and start-ups. In 2017, nearly 22% of one-to-one coaching time focused on sound financial management (accounting, budgeting, cash flow management, tax planning). An additional 15% focused on helping clients to access business loans and investments.
“This unrestricted funding is critical to SBDC’s efforts to help small businesses grow,” explains SBDC Director Leila Roberts. “It shows that the community is ready to match tax dollars. And it’s a great complement to our local partnership. U.S. Bank employees refer business customers to us so we can help them grow, access financing and overcome the million and one challenges any business owner faces every day.”
