Elite Caregivers
“SBDC help us obtain our goals by providing classes and by helping with our business plan and assisting us with our accounting system. Our Business Advisor has been wonderful in supporting us with our final stages to launch our agency and helped us put all the pieces together in order to meet our professional goals. Our success in creating and launching our agency is due to the support and assistance from SBDC. Thank you!”
BACKGROUND
Elite Caregivers provides in-home non-medical caregivingservices to seniors and adults in Humboldt, Del Norte, and Shasta counties, using a “whole person” approach. Their services foster an improved quality of life and empower their clients to live in the privacy of their own home. They believe the clients’ safety and well-being is their highest priority — they want to know their customers’ needs: medical, non-medical, social, and psychological. Elite works closely with the client, their family, and physician to develop a personalized plan of care, reviewing and updating the plan as needs change.
CHALLENGES
In early 2012 Elite Caregivers owners John and Laura Neely were ready to start their business. They needed help with their business plan and came to North Coast SBDC for assistance.
ACTIONS
Laura attended the business basics workshops offered by the SBDC, which added knowledge to the industry experience she already had. An SBDC Business Advisor coached them through the startup phase, reviewing their business plan and employee manual, then brought in other SBDCresources to assist with accounting setup, web site review, and marketing tips.
RESULTS
Elite Caregivers now has 30 employees (and growing) and will be expanding into Mendocino County.
