Investments can be a crucial tool for your small farm. This workshop is designed for farmers on all levels of experience to learn the basics of loan readiness. What is the difference between Equity and Debt investments? Learn how to use loans proactively instead of reactively to build your sustainable business. This workshop designed in collaboration with the North Coast Growers Association will include:

  • Discussion on when and why to borrow. What are your goals, what is your timeline, what’s your exit strategy 
  • An overview of the types of loans and investments available
  • Instruction on how to prepare your books to demonstrate loan readiness to lenders
  • Featuring guest local farmers who have utilized loans for their farm
  • Comes with 4 hours of no cost one on one advising from farm advisors of SBDC

Instruction led by Wil Franklin, formerly of Trinity River Vineyards and currently the Director of the North Coast Small Business Development Center. Wil was a Professor of Plant Science and agri-business operator-manager before branching into economic development and business advising. He was born and raised in Humboldt County; now raising his own family here in the Humboldt Bay area.
